Lumisokea
(BE/IT)
Lumisokea was formed in 2008 by Andrea Taeggi (IT) and Koenraad Ecker (BE), while studying at the conservatory in Amsterdam. Starting out as an improv duo using laptop and an old Roland D-50, they soon developed a more compositional approach to making music and included prepared piano, percussion and field recordings into their sound palette.
The combination of prepared piano as the main harmonic & melodic source with bass-heavy beats has become an important element in developing Lumisokea's sound.
Both members' broad musical background is reflected by the richness in color and nuance in Lumisokea's music ; you'll find elements from contemporary classical music, noise, improv, bassmusic and musique concrète.
Live-performing plays an as important role for Lumisokea as studio-production : by combining structured improvisation with rigourous rehearsing, their concerts are both detailed and intensely physical. The presence of improvisation makes sure no two concerts are the same, as well as making sure they're much more than a mere replication/execution of their studio-productions.
