Baconhead Astro Sludge Vinyl out now + Limited Free Cassette!

Finally, Baconhead release their ‘Astro Sludge‘ vinyl along with a cassette of their ‘Turbo-Loaded’ beat tape. Their 12″ debut has been highly anticipated after the succesfull release of the digital only ‘Soap EP’ which came out on the excellent Acroplane label last year. Since then we’ve decided to start a brand new series of Baconhead releases for Eat Concrete. The ‘Astro Sludge EP’ kicks off with a variety of material, surely their best so far (check out the recommendation from Sonic Router here). Enough said, go and listen here while we await your orders..

ps: The first ten vinyl orders receive the ‘Turbo-Loaded’ beat tape for free, after that we’ll have a highly limited amount of cassettes available from our webshop.

‘Blaze Out’ hits high like the big finish – flourishing from the first kick drum. Propelled by synth rushes that swell into each snare drum, it’s the most uplifting piece on the EP, purposefully making a point of using those 8 bit ‘coin up’ chops sparsely and amplifying that perfect moment of silence that comes just after the snare hits. Forthcoming 12″ by Baconhead receives a nice review in Igloo magazine this week:

Coming across as a disjointed mixture of Shadowhuntaz production versus Alder And Elius’ eccentric rhythms, Baconhead punctures the brain with the Astro Sludge EP, a twisted capsule of leftfield dubstep, 70′s techno/funk and mangled hip-hop. Video games are spliced at the edges with psychedelic instrumentation, interwoven vocal rhymes, miniscule atmosphere’s and a knack for the surreal. (read more)

Aardvarck (aka Mike Kivits) staat al jaren te boek als experimenteel producer. Je zou hem in dat opzicht een voorloper kunnen noemen. Hij maakte al tegendraadse (break)beat muziek voordat er überhaupt etiketten op stijlen als beats of dubstep/bass music geplakt werden. Aardvarck bracht sinds 2002 al een hele rits aan (concept) albums uit, waarvan Anti Concept de nieuwste is. (read more)

USA magazine Foxy Digitalis has reviewed ‘Automatons’ by Lumisokea, check it out:

As the opening track on Automatons begins to take shape it becomes obvious to the listener that the Belgian/Italian duo behind these beautifully crafted, bespoke instrumentals picked the perfect title for the record. Comprising of myriad component piano plunks, music-box chinks and slowly evolving static crackles, the image the music brings to mind is one of antique mechanical toys coming to life under their creator’s proud gaze. In the same way, this is Lumisokea’s method of introducing us to their way of working, their attention to miniature details and their master craftsman-like approach to structure and form. (read more)
