Part two of the bootsrapping project leaves daylight behind and goes underground. Robbert Latumahina aka Sensory Overload immediately sets the score with his futuristic Andomeda Strain. The repeating sample and arpeggio's suggest a feeling of being chased, it’s staccato drums indicating that running would be the best option.
Mononom delivers ‘Shrinking’, which, despite being uptempo, is a rather comfortable track with lot’s of color, squeaky synths and stereo effects filling the room.
Ricercar’s ‘MS Team’ has a more analog feel to it. A fast and distinctive rhyhtm that builds up along several didgeridoo-like sounding synths, giving it an introvert, almost tribal sense.
On the other side we have Swonkdog’s ‘Chronicles of a Batcave”. This beautifully dark track runs for almost fourteen minutes without one second sounding like it could be omitted, that being an achievement in it’s own right. ‘Chronicles..’ is a dark and deep story, passing through several contrasting stages, breaks and climaxes, all there with a reason, making the journey more majestic with every beat that hammers on. This song is reminiscent to the best work of heroes like Locust, Scorn, perhaps Coil. A seriously impressive first release track.
